PROJECTS

1

Josh Carmona aka "Crisco Kidd" & 'Jammin' Jimmy Olson, are a dynamic duo on a mission to make a difference in every city they touch. Their goal? To support vulnerable groups - Children, Seniors, and Veterans - facing food insecurity. They're also spreading joy by collecting unwrapped toys for boys and girls, ensuring every child smiles Christmas morning and other celebrated days.

Unfortunately, since 2020, the situation has worsened with these shocking statistics: 1 in 5 children, 1 in 10 seniors, and 1 in 4 disabled Veterans are battling food deprivation right here in Phoenix and its surrounding areas. To tackle this immense challenge, Crisco & Jimmy need your assistance. They will be setting up camp at the bustling parking lot of WALMART, located at 5250 W Indian School Rd, Phoenix, AZ, in the heart of Maryvale.

Their tireless efforts will span over four days, from 8 am to 8 pm, as they strive to collect at least 10,000 pounds of non-perishable food. This remarkable feat will directly benefit UMOM New Day Centers, an organization that feeds aproximately 1,200 people daily. Crisco & Jimmy are also determined to gather a minimum of 2,000 pounds of toys and 200 bikes, bringing joy to the hearts of children across the Valley.

Since 2016, more than 429,512 children in the Valley and their families have experienced the joy of the Christmas/Holiday season via our yearly Ton of Toys & Holiday Food Drive, where they receive free toys, groceries, toiletries, and more.

In 2023 alone, the Ton of Toys & Holiday Food Drive collected approximately 14,000lbs of food and toiletries, over $60,000 in donations, and our goal of a ton (2,000 pounds) of toys benefitting UMOM, St. Mary’s Food Bank, and the Who I Am Foundation. Additionally, our toy distribution exceeded our goal in 2023 and provided over 200 underprivileged families and their 500 children gifts!

The Crisco Kidd & JJO's Spring Food & Diaper Drive is an annual event that aims to collect essential items such as food and diapers for families in need during the spring season. The drive serves as an opportunity for individuals, businesses, and organizations to come together and make a positive impact on their community.

One of the key aspects of their drive is its focus on addressing two critical needs of vulnerable populations: access to nutritious food and basic baby care essentials. The drive recognizes that many families struggle to afford these items, which are essential for the well-being and development of both children and adults.

In addition to the collection of essential items, Crisco Kidd's Spring Food & Diaper Drive also focuses on raising awareness about food insecurity and the challenges faced by families in accessing basic necessities. By shedding light on these issues, the drive aims to foster empathy, compassion, and understanding among community members. It encourages individuals to become more engaged in tackling these problems, whether through volunteering, advocating for policy changes, or supporting local organizations that work towards alleviating poverty and food insecurity.

The Spring Food & Diaper Drive has gained significant recognition and support over the years. Through the dedication and efforts of Crisco Kidd and his team, the drive has been able to make a substantial impact on communities, providing much-needed resources to those who need them the most.

Crisco Kidd's Community Care Day

Crisco Kidd's Community Care Day is a day of service where volunteers come together to participate in various activities that benefit the local community.

CKCCD prioritizes helping under-served families, community centers, unsheltered individuals by renovating buildings, neighborhood clean ups, and more. These events also offer free services such as health exams, haircuts, hygeine kits, school supplies, free meals just to name a few.

This day also emphasizes the importance of education and empowerment and often includes workshops and seminars on topics like financial literacy, job readiness, and personal development.

CKCCD seeks permanent transformation as well as instant impact and encourages volunteering, advocacy, and community involvement beyond the day itself.
